TGIS

I know, it is supposed to be TGIF for Thank God It's Friday....but today is Saturday...and I am thankful to God for that! TGIS could also stand for "Thank God I'm Sane!"...at least the last time I checked!

Homeschooling Handsome is a lot of fun and rewarding. But it has its challenges as well. There is a lot more preparation this year than last. I think some of that has to do with the curriculum we chose. Now that I know Handsome's learning style and how to keep him connected and focused, we are truly having fun and learning. But in order to keep both of us from boredom, we have an active/passive/active type of schedule. And we need some surprises here and there. And that is partly where the "Thank God I'm sane" comes in.

We did manage to make it to the police station yesterday for a tour. We got to see all of the vehicles the police use: bicycles, motorcylces, cars, SUVs, pickups, and unmarked cars with special features. The big city police, and the Sherrif also have horses, but not in our area. We got to see their work-out room, their training and briefing room, and their break room. We also saw the in-take room for juveniles, and the evidence holding room. Hunky was full of questions. Even Baby Girl kept saying "Whatsthat?" She, of course, was referring more to lights and noises, but hey, it all fit in. We saw ourselves on surveilance cameras and Hunky identified most of the cameras throughout the facility, once shown what they are. They were all given a neat lunch bags, filled with cool stuff like bubbles, puzzle blocks, badges, and a first aid kit with sunscreen and bandaids. We had a good time.

Today we are having breakfast with my husband's sister, her hubby, her daughter and baby, her son and wife and two babies...but they eat much later than we do and so I am snacking on a hard-boiled egg and coffee. The daughter lives here and lost her husband in the Iraqi war. Their son was less than one when it happened. He is like a year and a half or so now. He is cute. It will be nice to see them all again. We do get to visit with the daughter and baby more now that she lives here. Everyone else lives in California.

Well, another point of being thankful for sanity is that I still have to finish getting the house back to normal from that party two weeks ago. Last weekend was Hunky's birthday and we spent Saturday doing business needs, and shopping, and Sunday at Hunky's party after church. So, here we are once again...another weekend...with people and places to go...The luau leis are still in a basket on the buffet, along with the bag of cards and a couple of centerpieces. Oh well, last week the tables were lined up there also...I guess I am making progress!

Have a great weekend to all who read this, and keep smiling...people might think you know something they don't!
